A random story...

“Quick Jack! You have to see this!” Paul Shouted excitedly. I hurried over to my best friend’s side.
“What is it?” I asked in curiosity.
“It looks like an egg,” he replied.
We were at a river in the outskirts of town. It was the school holidays, my best friend Paul and I decided to go exploring in hopes of finding something interesting to do. So we decided to go into the mysterious river near our town. Rumour has it that this gigantic river was home to some fresh water crocodiles and we were hoping to find one. With our “excavation kit” on the soft lush grass, I got out of the murky waters. Paul followed me shortly.
“Could you pass that thing to me?” I asked while I stretched my hand out.
“Yeah, sure,” Paul replied as he passed the shiny oval object to me.
I examined it further. The object was flawless. It had a perfect oval shape and no bumps. It was extraordinarily white as it shone in the scorching afternoon sun.

“What do you think about it?” Paul asked me as he lay down on the grass.
“I’m not sure, might be a crocodile’s egg,” I replied, engrossed in the object.
At the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow in the water. I jerked up and asked Paul, “Hey, did you see that?”
“See what?” he said as he carried himself up.
“I thought I saw something in the water… Oh well, might just be my imagination,” I said as I swept the thought of a crocodile out my mind.
I placed the egg down and looked at Paul. His face was as white as sheet, a horrified expression plastered his face.
“What…” I was about to ask him when it struck.
It lunged at me. I was taken aback by the sudden attack. Then the pain kicked in. Before I could react, a massive crocodile sunk its fangs into my leg. I shrieked in pain. Before I knew it, I was dragged back into the murky waters. I was spun around and around in the water, trying very hard to stay alive. It was like the crocodile had endless amounts of energy. It clenched its teeth tighter. The pain was excruciating. I wanted to open my mouth to release all my emotions, but I knew that if I did that, I would be dead meat, literally. Then, it continued thrashing in the water along with me. I was encased in a flurry of crimson bubbles. My vision was blurred. Then it started getting darker and darker. I felt very light-headed, like I was about to faint. My lungs burned. I could not take it anymore. Just when I was about to open my mouth, the crocodile let go. I took the golden opportunity and swam to the surface of the water. I took a big gulp of fresh air. How it rejuvenated my lungs.
Slowly, I regained my composure and saw Paul throwing rocks at the giant beast. I trudged myself to the river bank, leaving a trail of thick blood on the grass. Just then, Paul glanced at me for a second, enough for the crocodile to strike back. It lunged forward like it did to me. This time, Paul cleverly anticipated it and slammed the creatures’ snout with his fists. I painfully made my way to my bag and fished out my Sony Ericson Aino from the front pocket of my “Excavation Kit”. I dialled for the police and ambulance, telling them the situation we were in. Then as I wanted to tell the good news to Paul, he was nowhere in sight. The crocodile found its new victim.
A few minutes later, the police, the ambulance and animal control came to the scene. Animal control took care of the crocodile and the paramedics took Paul and I to the hospital. He was in critical condition, worse than me.
In the ambulance, Paul’s heart rate began quickening its pace. I sat the quietly. The world around me seemed to slow down. The paramedics frantically tried to save him, but to no avail. He was dead. My best friend, the one I shared my sad and happy times with, was dead. My whole world crashed down like a burning building. The paramedics sat down slowly, looking shocked. They failed to save him. I looked at his lifeless body, the calm expression on his face. I knew he was somewhere happy. A tear rolled down my cheek.

The red text was the part I could not finish within 40 mins. I did some planning for 10 mins. Pleas comment on it. Thanks and good luck! :)

Tortoise and the Hare story: Teledude's point of view

Well, I fell that it takes more than Intelligence and Diligence to win a race. It takes luck, coordination, strategy and other minor factors.
Now, to talk about the Hare's point of view.

I will definitely win the race! That slow tortoise will not win! He is so slow, I bet it will take him 1 year to finish the race!

Now, talk about the tortoise's point of view. (Note, my tortoise suffers from multiple personality disorder...)

(Feel like giving up side) Darn. How can I win? That Hare is so fast, I bet he will only have to take one leap to finish this short race. While I will take a year to complete it!
(Motivational side) Don't give up! I know we can do it!
(Feel like giving up side) NO I can't!
(Motivational side) YES I can! That's it! I'm sick of your "give up" attitude!
(Motivational side) punches (Feel like giving up side)
(Feel like giving up side) falls down and faints.
(Motivational side) takes over body.

The big day comes. The race goes on. The Hare leaps 3 meters while the Tortoise move 1 inch. The Hare continues at lightning fast speed! He turns back. That was his mistake.
The Hare squints his eyes, but could not see any sign of the tortoise. He sees a shady tree and decides to take a nap... Time flies and by the time the Hare woke up, the tortoise was crawling on the path, right in front of him. He was startled. So he decides to rush to the finish line. Again, he takes a look back at the Tortoise, and sees him struggling to reach to the finish. His heart melts at the sight of this.So he decides to let go of his title as Race king champion and went to help the Tortoise. At the last minute, the Tortoise back-stabbed the Hare and takes the title. At that point of time, his third side, (The evil side) took over his body and won the race, despite the Hare helping him.
The Hare was left standing there, open-mouthed, wide-eyed and furious!
After the race, he approaches the Tortoise and gives him a punch in the face. The Tortoise reacted by stepping on his tail, then, Hare's tail was long. Hare shouts in agony and pain. He struggles to pull away, but in the end he ends up tearing his own tail apart. When the (Motivational side) kicked in, he apologize profusely, and back in his own mind, he punches the (evil side) until it bowed down and apologized to the (motivational side). The Tortoise (Motivational side) decides to move away to a land called Wunderville, and so his new life starts to unfold...

Picture 4: Monkey Bar accident

Introduction:

This picture shows a scene at the school play area.

Scenario 1: Wrong & Consequence

There are two boys at the left side of the picture. They are kicking the ball to and fro each other. They look like they are having fun.

PR for Scenario 1:

What they are doing is wrong. They should not play at the playground. They are supposed to play at the field, where there is more space. If one of the boys don't kick the ball properly, the ball will hit an innocent person. I have came across this before. I have seen and experienced this situation. I was kicking the ball when I did not aim properly and kicked at an innocent boy. I apologized profusely, I asked his brother whether he was okay, his brother replied that he was going to be fine. I felt really guilty that day, so I practiced my kicking and accuracy.

Scenario 2: Cause & Effect

At the left hand side of the picture, there is a girl on the play area floor with a bleeding elbow, crying very loudly. She may have fallen down the monkey bars. There is a bigger boy coming to her aid. He might be the little girl's brother. There is a boy hanging on the monkey bars, he looks afraid after seeing the little girl fall down.

PR for Scenario 2:

What the big kid is doing is right. He is very concerned for the little girl. Even though I have to come across this experience before, I can empathize with him. If that were my little sister, I would also be worried for her.

Conclusion:

The Play Area is a place where we should be careful. Anything could happen there. You just have to prepare for the worst.

Picture 3: The accident on the stairs

Introduction:

This picture shows a scene one of the stairs in a school. There are many accidents happening at the stairs.

Only Scenario: Cause & Effect

There is a boy running down the stairs, he accidentally knocked a teacher and the books that she was holding slipped off her hands, and the boy was also running towards another teacher holding a cup of coffee or tea. The teacher is holding out his hand, calling him to stop. There are other pupils at the stairs and the things that they were carrying also fell down.

PR for Cause & Effect picture:

We need to beware of our safety at school. There are many dangers at school such as the stairs. Many people have fallen down the stairs. I have experienced it before. I was running down the stairs then I missed a step and tumbled down the stairs. I sprained two of my fingers and hurt my shin. It is a learning experience and nowadays I am more careful when I go down the stairs.

Picture 2: Grandpa's Birthday

Introduction:

This picture shows a scene at a birthday party. There is a banner at the back of the room. It has the words "Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa!", so I can infer from that it is Grandpa's 80th birthday.

Scenario 1: Normal

There is a middle-aged man pouring something in a bowl. It looks like he is making a sort of drink.

Personal Response for Scenario 1:

This shows that this guy cares for Grandma and Grandpa.

Scenario 2: Normal

There is a group of people putting food on the table. They seem to be related. They may be a family.

Personal Response for Scenario 2:

This shows their bond together. It is really strong, the two children are disciplined enough to stay put. Unlike most little children, they are behaving. My cousin, he is around 5 to 6 years old and he cannot stop moving! He will try to move as long as there is a chance to move.

Scenario 3: Wrong & Consequence:

At the right of the family, there are two boys waiting in line to give their present, but it seems that one of the boys did not have one. It is hard to tell who the present belongs to. The short and small boy looks like he is struggling to get the present. You can tell by the expression on his face.

Personal Response for Scenario 3:

This is very wrong as they might get hurt. They will not only ruin Grandpa's birthday party, but they will also recieve a scolding from their parents. If I were there, I would definitely stop them from doing so.

Scenario 4: Normal

There is a girl giving her present to Grandpa. There is a boy lining up behind her. What they are doing is right, they are not doing anything wrong, instead they are quietly lining up, unlike the two boys behind them.

PR for Scenario 4:

I think that they show great respect for their elders. They not only bought presents for Grandpa, but they also line up obediently and in an orderly manner. The two boys behind them should really emulate the two children in front of them.

Conclusion:

I find it touching that these children can make it for their Grandpa's birthday. It really shows their closeness. They truly are a close family.

Picture 1:The Beach

Introduction:

This picture shows a scene at the Beach. It is crowded with people from all walks of life. They are all engaged in various recreational activities. It may be a weekend or a public holiday.

Scenario 1: Normal

A Lady wearing a pair of sunglasses is strumming a guitar. There is a smile on her face. She must be enjoying herself. She is singing a song to a girl who is sitting at her feet. She may be the lady's daughter. She looks mesmerized with the music and she is clapping to the rhythm of the song. She is singing along with the lady. They are having a picnic as there is a mat laid out with some drinks and a picnic basket.

Personal Response for Scenario 1:

This is a good example of family bonding. The mothers idea of bringing her daughter to the beach and singing a song to her shows that she wants to strengthen her bond with her daughter. I wish my parents were like her!

Scenario 2: Wrong & Consequence

Two children are playing a ball game. They are tossing a ball to and fro to each other. They might be good friends.

Personal Response for Scenario 2: They are playing very near to the shoreline. They may accidentally toss the ball out into the sea. This may pose a danger if the children if the children wade out to sea to retrieve the ball. It is very dangerous as the currents may be strong and they will be swept away by it. They should play further away from the shoreline. I have read about cases where Secondary School boys drown due to these underwater currents. I cannot imagine what will happen to these children if they get swept away.

Scenario 3: Wrong & Consequence

A little girl is riding on a dinosaur float. She is paddling out to sea. She seems to be playing tag with a boy who might be her brother. The boy is chasing her using the stroke, butterfly.

PR for Scenario 3:

I feel that it is dangerous for the little girl to be wandering out to sea. She might not be a good swimmer. They seem to be nonchalant to the danger of falling and drowning. I think their parents should be around to supervise her or the boy, being older should be more mature and should not play such dangerous games.

Scenario 4: Normal

There are two young girls building a magnificent sandcastle, so decorated with exquisite seashells. They are working diligently at building their multi-tiered sandcastle. There is a boy assisting the girls by ferrying pails of water from the sea.

Personal Response for Scenario 4:

This show great teamwork between the three of them.

Conclusion:

A beach is a good place for family bonding and recreational activities.

My drug story

“Hmm….What is this?” I murmured, holding a box of Ecstasy. At that point of time, I did not know what I was getting myself into, or what Ecstasy was. Unknowingly, I ate the ecstasy pill.
Suddenly, I felt a great wave of energy course through my veins. It was a great feeling. I felt that I could do anything, I accepted my true self for the first time in my entire life. Being a pimple-faced freak, I was extremely shy about my appearance, until now. My friends in school had given me this box. I felt very unsure at that time, but now I know why they offered it to me. The whole day I felt like I was full of energy. I did not feel afraid! It was great.
The next day, I felt really tired and was easily irritated at school. My friends came back and offered me some more ecstasy. I really thought about it. My conscience told me not to, but my dark side told me to take it. I reflected on how I felt yesterday and I wanted to feel it again, so I took the drug and gulped it down. The awesome feeling came back. I felt as energized as yesterday.
Today, I was totally energized. After school, my friends asked me to go to this cool, new pub called “The Matrix”. I decided to tag along as I thought it sounded cool
When we arrived, people started to rush up to me and asked me for ecstasy. I stared at my friends in excitement, and shouted at them, “What is this?” “Oh, they want ecstasy from you!” They shouted back. One of my friends passed me 20 to 50 boxes of ecstasy. The crowd demanded it and bought it for top price. After the sale, I had earned around $600. I myself had taken 2 pills of ecstasy. Suddenly, the sound of a siren filled the pub.
What is that sound? I thought. As I looked at the entrance of the pub, 4 policemen crashed the door down. The yelled freeze and demanded the drug dealer of ecstasy. I ran immediately. My friends did not dare help me; instead they made way for the police. I looked at them with eyes full of sorrow.
I ran with all my might. It was no use. I could feel the effect of the Ecstasy wearing off. By the time the drug wore off, I was handcuffed and shoved into the police car. My parents were at the scene, looking at me with disappointed eyes. I looked down in humiliation. I had learned my lesson not to trust my “true friends”.

Book Review 2: Pendragon: The Reality Bug

Hello all readers,

Today's post is about another book review! After reading the book"Pendragon: The Never War", I was hooked on the Pendragon series. Now, thanks to Kelly Wong(Thank You Kelly Wong!), I was able to read the next book in the series, The Reality Bug. This book takes place in the world of Veelox, a futuristic planet/territory. The main issue of this book is LifeLight, a system which can read your brain and display your fantasy world. The system is something like the tube-like chamber from "Avatar"(The blue alien movie). This traveller, called Aja Killian, thought Lifelight was too addictive that the citizens of Veelox spend too much time in it, so she created a virus called "The Reality Bug". The effects of this virus are..... Too much said already, go read the book yourself.

Overall, out of 10, I would rate it 9/10. Again, the author creates suspense at the end of every chapter, so I felt like reading it even though I had to do other things which did not include reading this book. The plot was good and there were a lot of twist's, just like the previous book. After reading this book, I now have more knowledge of the world of Veelox. The only thing is that there was a sad ending to this book. I find this realistic as Bobby Pendragon has had 3 wins over Saint Dane, and this is the first time he failed. Movie Review: Alice in Wonderland

This is a classic. A Disney classic. This time, they made Johnny Depp a mad(as in crazy) person called the mad hatter. Movie directed my Tim Burton. The movie I watched was in 3-D so the effects were good. Out of 10, I would rate it a 7/10. Even though it is supposed to be a family classic, there were some characters that just looked bizarre! E.g. the Red Queen, The mad hatter, etc. It still sticks to the original plot about Alice falling down the hole that leads to Wonderland, but some parts are new, such as the White Queen, the dragon slaying etc.
The characters wore a layer of make-up, a Layer! I am not exaggerating. Their faces were white as sheet. Overall, this movie is still for kids, but Parental Guidance(PG) is advised.

Book Review! Pendragon: The Never War

Dear all readers, today's new post is about the book "Pendragon: The Never War". This book is about history. I suggest that people reading this post read the Pendragon series from the beginning as it has most of the characters' description and tell you how it all happened. "The Never War" takes place in first earth which is right after World War I. There are 3 earths. The past(first earth), present(second earth) and third earth(the future). There is this evil guy named Saint Dane and he plans to do really bad stuff and make Bobby Pendragons life hard(BTW, Bobby Pendragon is the main protagonist in the series.) The big event in this book is the crash of Luft Zeppelin-129, The Hidenburg. There are alot of twists in this story and I would rate it....8/10. The 2 missing marks/points are due to the fact that the book is unrealistic. E.g. the cause of the Hidenburg crash still remains a mystery, there are such things as time travellers etc. The rest is pretty much alright. I noticed that at the end of each chapter, the suspense always builds up. There are twists that the reader will not expect. Overall, I recommend this book to those sci-fi fans and fantasy fans. Please comment! :)

Movie review: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

Hi to everyone reading this, I have not blogged for a long time. Sorry to all people who make effort to come to this blog even though there has not been any new posts until now. Moving on, today I am going to review the new movie:

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief!

Spoiler alert! Please do not read if you plan to watch this movie, on the other hand you can ignore this spoiler alert and read on. This movie is all about Greek Gods, Demigods, mystical creatures e.g. Satyrs(pronounced "say-ters"), hell hounds ect. As the title of the movie suggests, this is about Percy Jackson and about a lightning bolt. This lightning bolt is no ordinary lightning bolt, it is the master bolt made for Zeus. Zeus is the "boss" of the Greek Gods. He has 2 brothers, Hades and Poseidon. As I have wrote earlier, Poseidon is the god of the sea. Hades is the god of the underworld or as many people call it, hell. Now on with the story, the gods suspect Percy of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. The only thing is that Percy does not have the lightning bolt, it was some other guy who stole the lightning bolt I shall not reveal his/her name. Zeus warned Poseidon that if his son did not return the lighning bolt within 14 days, there would be war. In the end there was no war and Percy saved the world. Overall I would rate it a 9/10, mostly because there was alot of action and stuff like that. The plot was great, there were many "problems" in the movie and of course, solutions. I would recommend it to those who love adventure and.... well mostly adventure

Thoughts of the day! (20/01/10)

Today, I went to Junction 8 with my mother to send my little sister the tuition center. I went to Comics Connection in Junction 8 and the shop was filled with secondary school pupils! I was the only person(besides the staff) not wearing school uniform. It was an awkward situation, so I went to Virtualand. To my suprise, the animal kaiser machines were totally empty! I was one of the only people near the animal kaiser machine(I have also caught the "AK" virus!). So I changed the notes for tokens. I looked around nervously and thought that the machines were hacked, or something wrong with the machine. I was wrong, the machine worked perfectly. I continued to play until all the tokens ran out. Then this one boy approached me and took a look when I was flipping my album(I have been playing for sometime and now put my cards in an album.) This animal kaiser game has attracted the likes of parents and children alike, this game is more about luck than tactical strategy. Except the part when you have to match the cards to get the best possible combo. Some people sell cards to earn extra $$$, they sell the extra foil cards(Gold, Silver and Bronze). I saw on Ebay, that sellers can sell 1 whole set of Ver1/2 for S$400! Some hardcore players can actually spend thousands of $$$ to win in competition.

In opinion, buying good cards are a waste of money. They are just meant to either help people win in competition or just to show off. In the end, when the animal kaiser trend ends, people will realise that they spent their money on unimportant things! Some people play for fun, some people play professionally. In my case, I play for fun. It does not matter if other people have better cards, the thing that matters is that you have fun. At the end of the day, you will understand that trends like this will end, but you will remember the joy of playing this game.

That is my thought of the day.

My current yoyo is the counter attack yoyo by yoyofactory. It is an unresponsive yoyo and it requires the user to bind to get it back to your hand. Unlike a responsive yoyo, this yoyo's spintime is much longer. This is how it looks like:

Thoughts of the day!

Today, Ms Chia shared with us an interesting story about her friend's son, Isaac.(I hope I spelled that correctly!) This 5 year old boy knows how to manipulate other people, and he is only 5 years old!(wow! at 5 years old, I was learning my 2nd language.) This boy is really smart! My opinion about Ms Chia's story is that when parenting, we need to be careful and think things through before making the wrong move.
Ms Chia also asked us to read 2 compositions. One of which was Chester's and the other was Zong Rui. After I read the 2 compositions, I thought: Hey! Chesters one is really good! It has a lot of action, speech, and feelings! I support this composition, and take note to remember of it as it is a great composition. Zong Rui's one on the other hand, is too dramatic! It's the same as saying a 11-13 year old boy crying for his girl friend passionately as she might have died! That is not a common sight, it is really rare or impossible to see such a scene in real life, so it is not realistic enough for the reader to believe that all this might happen!The positive things to say are Zong Rui elaborated more than Chester. He was creative and descriptive. The negative points about Chesters composition is the Paper airplane stunt. As if the paper airplane would be lucky enough to fly out of the window on the ceiling! Not likely going to happen in real life, and the paper appeared out of thin air. The main character was hiding and hoping not to get discovered by the robbers. That is a fairytale. The robbers would be smart enough to check the surrounding area for witnesses and shoot them dead. What I am saying is that I prefer Chesters compositition over Zong Rui's composition, not that I don't like Zong Rui's compo. I think both of them have more space to improve on such as paragraphing for Zong Rui and more "colourful" phrases from Chester.

That's my opinion, how about yours?
